Bouton Fire & Rescue is a small volunteer fire and rescue department located in Bouton, Iowa. We are dedicated to providing essential services in EMS and Fire to ensure the safety and well-being of our community.
Our team is committed to serving with professionalism, compassion, and integrity. At Bouton Fire & Rescue, we aim to keep the community informed about fire safety, emergency preparedness, and our ongoing initiatives. We take pride in our volunteer work and are passionate about making a positive impact in the lives of those we serve.​

Mission Statement
We are dedicated to supporting our community by providing reliable emergency fire and medial services to protect life, property, and the environment.
Volunteer Members
Led by Chief Matt Cavanaugh, Assistant Chief Karl Harris, Fire Captain Cameron Greenough, and EMS Captain Christen Ford, Bouton Fire & Rescue has approximately 20 volunteer members with a range of experience and expertise. Our members are committed to protecting our community and frequently partake in a variety of training courses to expand our knowledge in both fire and EMS.

FAQs
WHAT EXPERIENCE IS NECESSARY TO BE A VOLUNTEER FIREFIGHTER?
New volunteer firefighters and EMTs do not need to have previous experience, but they do need to:

Be at least 18 years of age and have a high school diploma or GED

Live or work in Bouton or Woodward.

Be able to successfully pass a drug screening and physical examination.

Be available for department trainings, meetings and fundraisers.

Have a valid Iowa driver’s license.

WHAT ARE THE TIME COMMITMENTS?

Second Monday of every month is our department meetings.

Volunteers are ‘on call’ and respond when they are available.

Three fundraisers per year.

Various optional activities (i.e. parades, traffic control for local events…)

I HAVE NEVER DONE ANYTHING LIKE THIS BEFORE, HOW WILL I KNOW WHAT TO DO?
No experience is required, the department will provide all the training and equipment that you need to succeed. From the chief down to the newest recruit, we’ve all had to start somewhere. Our members come from all walks of life with diverse skillsets, all of which bring something unique to the team. Through opportunities with the department our members have obtained a variety of fire and EMS certifications, which you'll have the opportunity to learn also.
